Justin Steinfeld, MD, PhD entered the MD/PhD program at Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons after receiving his BS in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University. As a doctoral student in Dr. Eric Greene’s lab, his research aimed to characterize the mechanisms and biophysical properties of homologous recombination in yeast, worms, and humans. While conducting his research, he trained and mentored numerous undergraduate students and served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate and nursing courses at both Columbia and Hunter College. He is also an accomplished bassist who played with the Yale Symphony Orchestra and a medical student jazz trio featured at Columbia University Irving Medical Center events.
