Jared Daedalus Moon, MD, PhD, earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in Astronomy and Physics from the University of Iowa before matriculating at Weill Cornell Medicine, where he completed an MD/PhD program. His thesis work in the lab of Dr. Samie Jaffrey investigated small molecule interactions with nucleic acids. He developed strategies for engineering RNA-based genetically encoded metabolite sensors. This work led to first-author publications in Cell Chemical Biology and ACS Chemical Biology. Dr. Moon is current a psychiatry resident at Columbia University, and plans to apply his pharmacology background towards investigating the underpinnings of psychiatric diseases at the molecular and circuit levels. In his free time, he enjoys playing piano, scuba diving, and spending time with his wife and child.
