June 26, 2019 – The Leon Levy Foundation and Jerome Levy Foundation have provided support to the NAC’s CUNY internship program in 2018 and 2019. The funded work includes hosting an exchange with the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve in Eleuthera (one week in the Bahamas and one week in NYC) and providing 8-week paid internships in conservation and natural areas management in NYC Parks for CUNY students. Interns receive training in botany, biology, geographic information systems (GIS) and data management. The Leon Levy Foundation previously supported native forest and bird habitat restoration work on North Brother Island.
